Keeping it Local

Hello dears,
How are you all?
I'm wonderful since it is the week end and I love week ends.
In fact, I adore them. Who doesn't right?

This week end I got to see some friends I haven't seen in ages, some family also, gone on some great frosty walks with Twisty and also…

yeah... Did manage to do some work as well, which is reassuring…!

I did a cover for this sweet little parish magazine which is just adorable. I love things like that! The illustration had to be in black and white so I chosen to use ink pens and pencils and to draw a local view (the Capel Mill - you can google it :)
I had so much fun doing it!
Next week?
Well, lots of things, but above all, I'm reading a manuscript for which I'll be doing some illustrations for. I'm starting with sketches and you might well see the book up on the shelfs of bookstores one day, who knows? Won't spoil any surprises for the coming year or years, but keeps your eyes open for it ok? Don't worry, I'll definitely let you know if and when it comes out (probably even post a 'Buy on Amazon' button too! ah ah! shamless plug. Well why not indeed, it is my blog after all...)

I came up with a quote yesterday morning…
and yes... it's a 'tweetable'!

"Persistence is an Art, master it" ~ Giulia Mauri

I decided that it was so good I needed to illustrate it, so here a sneaky peak...

I really do love lettering projects...

Custom Thank you cards + Blog New Winter Look

Hello my lovelies, how are you all?
I hope great.
Birthday celebrations have just come to an end for me.
On my return from Italy I had a beautiful celebration with my hubby and my dog twist, how bought me lovely gifts and made me a beautiful vegan cake. I opend all my cards on my Birthday and lined up all the presents to appraciate each and everyone of them.

Jason, Twist and I also went away for five days in the Lake District which was wonderful. (I will post a picture of two next time I log in).

So now it's the time to sit down and write all my thank you cards to the lovely people who made my Birthday a very special day indeed (or days I should say).
Being an illustrator and all I decided to design my very own personalised one which i thought was rather cool.
Here a few pictures of the working in progress and the final cards...

So sweeeet!

Please say bye bye to pink blog for a little while

and welcome the new winter look for the blog!
I hope you like it. It's the 1st of December tomorrow and I really wanted to spread the Christmas spirit on the site!

Our Christmas tree is up now, the first advent candle will be burnt in the morning, the first advent calendar window opened and the first chocolate eaten…!

All of our Christmas shopping has already been done in plenty of time; we were so lucky as to find all our beautiful pressies on our holidays and trips this year. I even already have birthday presents for friends and family up to April 2013! Love it…

Now all we have to do is sit by the fire, relax with a cup of mulberry punch and enjoy wrapping all gifts and writing the beautiful sparkly Christmas cards…

Much love to you all
and Happy First of December…
the first day of Christmas!

Bring on the Autumn

Hello Darlings,

I hope you are all well.
This month has started off in a really jolly way for me. We had a Birthday/Halloween Party at my sister in law last week end. If you are following me on Twitter you know that this year was dressing up as Snow White, and that Jason was the Huntsman, it was really good fun. I had even found the perfect red apple (red devil variety - grown in sussex!)
I was thrilled with my medieval costume because it was really fairy-tale like...

As you can see it's green and red, just like in the movie.
I'm seriously considering using it as a Pixie costume this Christmas... it's too beautiful to be kept in the cupboard! Also it just needs a green hat and pointed shoes with bells!

Right now I'm writing to you all from Italy where I'm having the best time. Weather it's amazing, sunny and crisp.

I'm back next week working on all sorts of projects such as covers for Pilgrim Angry, a new music video for Silicon (I did some shooting of clouds on the plane to Venice) and I'll be working on some animation projects such as 'Above the Mountain' and 'The Hedgehog and the Snowman'.

To see more regular updates of those you can subscribe for my HitRECord uploads and my Facebook Art Page.

Much love to you all,
until next week

The Darkest Hour Project

 Hello you guys,

Happy October everybody!

We are having a Halloween/Birthday party this year, like we did last year, so I'm wondering who am I going to go as…

The theme is Fairytales, so I won't actually wear anything scary… I don't think. Plus Jason and I wanted to go with outfits from the same story. I'll keep you posted...

In the meantime, I have here some sketches and the final work of The Darkest Hour Project, that I was telling you all about in my last post.

I'm so very happy with the final Artwork. It's also so great to have a record of all of the sketches I did and the different stages of the painting and studying process;
I love looking back and see how the artwork has evolved since the beginning.

Colour Sketch - Watercolour on Paper

Final Artwork, almost completed

Completed Artwork. Acrylics, watercolours and inks on paper + lots of time.

It's really nice to see it completed.
This week end I'm working on some brand new children illustrations, as well as re-doing my hanging baskets with teeny tiny violas and super cute white cyclamens!

Hooray for flowers!

I have lots of other projects lined up, so stay tuned to see more sketches. Also if you haven't already come and join my facebook pages, 'cos I tend to post there more frequently and while painting! You also get to see lots of working in progress pictures and other etceteras.

Cheeky Sneaky Peek

Hello Darlings,

Hope you had a lovely week end.
Here in Surrey it has been wonderful.
Twist and I adventured in some lovely walks that we had never attempted before.
At one point i really did not know where the path would lead me, or where the heck we were.
but we just carried on intrigued anyway, and, all of a sudden, we ended up 100 yards from home!
Its an amazing sense of achievement for me not getting completely lost!
Epecially when im driving. Oh thank heaven for sat nav's and postcodes
- I love you postcodes! -

anyways… going back to our sneaky peak…
here there is:

i'm doing final touches with ink pen today and then I shall crack on with the cards designs process…
I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime have a wonderful day

09 September 2012

Hello Everybody,
how is it going?

I hope great.
We have had quite a bit of celebrations in the last 2-3 weeks.
first, Jason and I celebrated 9 years of being a couple on the 16th August, then our first Wedding anniversary on the 22nd, and then, Jason's Birthday.
Our house is covered in birthday flags, balloons and all sorts of birthday and anniversary cards.
It's lovely! I love celebration times!

This was Jason's beautiful vegan chocolate birthday cake, made by Vicki.
It was AWESOME!
sort of like a cheesecake type of thing.
I looove vegan cakes. they are yummi and healthy, so you can eat as much a you want!

mmmh… delish!
On that note...

What do you think of this pretty bee birthday cake here?
i thought to myself, if bees were to celebrate birthdays, what cake would they make?
so i decided it was going to be a pollen cake filled with rose scented honey…

here a sneaky peek of the working in progress illustration...

Tune in tomorrow for more colourful bee sneaky peeks!
Have a great sunday
